Calorie Restriction diet ...should we take notice?

The much talked about CR diet, has extended the lifespan of rats and monkeys by 40% in lab conditions.
Now with thousands of people sticking by CR diet, should we take notice or is it just another gimmick diet which promises more than it delivers.
Acording to some scientists it will be proven to work on humans and extend your lifespan significantly.
The CR diet is consumeing just enough calories(two thirds of the recomended daily intake) to prevent starvation without losing all the required nutrients. The CR diet isnt simply just cutting down on calories but as much about eating nutrient rich foods in balance(the right proportion of cards and protein) ,so thus not needing to eat more to get the same amount of nutrients from unhealthier foods.

Here are two monkeys the same age but the one on the left was on CR diet, and the other was on normal calorie intake. The one on the left lived 40% longer than the normal monkey and as you can tell looks much younger.

It gives the benefits of living a healthier and if proven increasing lifespan, but also been able to stick to it consistenly without eating unhealthy foods which can be tempting.
